Excellent Ideas for Decorating Your Corner Bookcase
Written by Salem Arckadi on September 4, 2009 – 7:43 am -Decorating can be tough sometimes and it is nice to get some good ideas from the internet when you’re having trouble coming up with them on your own. Let this article be your little guide to some really excellent decorating tips for enhancing the look of that brand new corner bookcase you just bought yesterday. A plain old bookcase is boring and dull, spruce it up and make it look really good with some of these excellent ideas.
Frames, frames, and more frames. A picture frame can sometimes say just as much as the picture within it and they also make some really good accent pieces. Put up a bunch of family pictures on your bookcase next to your books or just stack them on there on their own and you’ll soon find that your corner bookcase isn’t just a corner bookcase anymore: it’s a memory shrine. Pictures will give that much needed personal touch to any room and the great thing about them is that whenever you look at the bookcase you will be reminded of some of the best times in your life.
Out of all the great decorating ideas to come out of the human mind the potted plant has to be one of the best. You can get fake ones or real ones (though real ones always look better) and you can stick them on the shelves next to the books on your corner bookcase to really make it come alive. Just remember that if you use plants as decoration you must keep them alive and well. Don’t forget to water them and make sure to trim them if they start to get over grown. Nothing is worse than a bunch of dead and dying plants on a bookshelf.
Do you own a fabulous doll collection? Do you like to collect army men or build model cars and airplanes? Well, the corner bookcase is a perfect piece of furniture to showcase those wonderful collections of yours. Knick knacks and hobby art can really bring a personalized touch to any room because it says a lot about your character as a decorator. The only thing to watch out for is making it look too cluttered. A knick knack here and a knick knack there can go a long way to accentuating your personality.
The corner bookcase was designed first and foremost with the purpose of storing and displaying books. One of the best ways to decorate your bookcase is to fill it with a lot of nice looking hardcover books of the type of literature you like to read. If you’re the intellectual sort, maybe classic and Victorian literature will be your fancy. If you’re into horror and science fiction maybe Stephen King’s collection would do well there on the shelf. Books are great conversation starters and they look nice to.
There’s just so much you can do with a corner bookcase. Any item can be a decorating accent when you think creatively enough. Just try to come up with some ideas of your own by looking around the house for some nice things. Anything can be used to decorate as long as it looks clean and structured. Just have fun with it and you’ll soon find that a corner bookcase can be more than a simple storage facility for books.
